Since the rule has been modified for the Elders to begin readjusting to their new distance in October so they have a chance to get in the required tournaments for the worlds, why not apply the same rules to the junior boys division also. Could save a lot of headaches & tempers flying at next years  tournament.

You know that is a good question, but that was brought up during our discussions for the rewrite of the rules and I was pretty much told it was an eligibility thing for sports. Tempers were pretty hot about it during that annual business meeting in Ardmore when I brought discussion to the floor too. On one hand its a good thing and on the other it ruffles a few feathers. The option was never considered at that level.

Hey guys
I'm responding for Stu, who is out of town this week.
I just wanted to remind you that Rule 1 Sec A.2 says that junior boys may move into the Open Men's division at any time, but cannot return to the junior division once this declaration has been made.
So the situation for the Elders is not the same as for junior boys.

Thanks for the answers guys. My nephew (17 yrs old) wants to join the NHPA, so from what I understand, he can get his NHPA card now (for the 2010 season), join the league  & get a couple of winter tournies in before the end of the year.

Ed
You are correct. Just make sure your charter secretary knows that he is a declared 40' pitcher in the Open Men's division. Natstats must also be informed upon his first reported event.
good luck to the lad !
