I figured it was time to update this thread since its been a while. I was somewhat reluctant to as every other time I have I started playing bad again!
At any rate, after changing my grip 6 weeks ago, I starting going downhill. At first it was great but then I started to lose confidence in the new grip and was having distance issues as I mentioned. I was pitching horrible and seemed to be stuck between 1% and 5%. I was almost ready to throw my hands up and just start flipping again but I realized I really wasn't focusing on the mechanics enough. I was so frustrated and all I had on my mind was how bad I was pitching. Then I said to myself, OK, what am I doing wrong, I know I can pitch better than this. So I slowed down my back swing quite a bit and started trying to tweak little things to see if my results would change. Sure enough through some trial/error and I was able to work through the problems and was getting more consistency and ringers. For the past two weeks or so, I've been pretty consistent with some great games here and there. I even got my first doubles win last Thursday with some friends who I practice with on Thursday nights. Both myself and my partner are beginners and we actually won two games that night. They were the first wins I've ever had since joining them on Thursdays. We even beat one team 21-0 and I had XX twice in that game. I couldn't believe it. We had plenty of losses that night though too

Also, for me personally, I've found there's a huge mental part to the game. Pitching in the backyard is a completely different feeling for me than pitching in competition, even practice competition. It seems to be
getting more comfortable the more I play but its still very nerve racking to say the least.
I'm still using the Cobras and I'll keep plugging along and hopefully have more success stories down the road
