A tie for first place is usually a playoff, but I was wondering how most others break ties for second place. Points, head to head, ringers, or over average. Just wanted to see whats used more often.

I use over average if handicapped, ringers if not then if still tied go to points then head to head.

Uhhhh bones527, did you forget to mention that that group was handicapped?

See pg 19 of the RGS book under Section F.  handicapping, it states in part: "Class winners will be determined by win/loss record or by total points."

This past weekend there was a 5 way tie for 1st.
This is the way it was broken down as to who pitched who.
Top 2 ringer percentages were tied so then went to head to head to see who set out.
Next #2 played #5 & #3 played #4 determined by ringer %.
Next the lower ringer % of the 2 winners out of the previous game played the one that set out the first round, because he/she shouldn't get a bye all the way through the playoffs.
Next the winner played the one that just set out.
As it turned out the two with the higher ringer % played for 1st & 2nd place with the one setting out the first round winning.

non handicap we do ringer %, then head to head.  With HC we do total points including HC then head to head.  There are many ways you can do it as long as you announce it before the tournamen starts.

Thanks Guys,

I settled on the way Bryan1962 is doing it. The reason I asked was I wondered how many used over average as HSMaster help file suggests for handicapped tournaments. Then it got me to thinking how are most tournaments set up.

Thanks Again,
