Hi Bluetree, actually your the first one i think who has tried it with the 1 and 3 but thanks for trying it out and looking at it, i know alot of the flip pitchers had to turn the shoe over and it flipped perfect for them, holding the chaulks down, but everyone seems to like the shoe which is good, and it is well balanced and yes alot of people liked the way the edges were. I am still expiermenting with them myself with different ways to throw it, flat or a little at an angle, both ways seem to be ok though, im glad everyone likes them so far, see ya in TN
Thanks Brian

Does the new Simmons shoe come in more than just heavy weight as seen on the Quailridge link?

Brian (SimmomsXL)
Have a question Brian !!! Is the SimmonsXL blade close to the same width & thickness of the Ted Allen shoe ??
The Allen's are the only shoe that I have pitched in 40+ yrs. but have never added the ringer-breaker that
S'sXL has..

It is hard to swallow that they will no longer make the MAXX. You spend hours and hours of practice feeling out a shoe and really getting dialed into it and then the rug gets pulled out from under you. Seems like the new shoe styles come and go so fast now days, it doesn't pay to take a chance on a new brand. Just stick with something that has been on the market for years. It is safer that way. Happened to me with the Cal-Flip several years ago and now it hits that way again. Great shoes going by the wayside. You break'em, you are done.

Get a pair of M&M's. They aren't going to be discontinued.

You never know who will be done makin shoes at a certain point so you can NEVER say one brand or type of shoe will never be discontinued! All shoes are on the chopping block it seems now days and no shoe is safe. The MAXX was a very popular shoe in my neck of the woods and now it's no longer, so who knows what's next. This new Simmons looks like a close replacement (and a very sweet shoe at that) but still not a MAXX. I love my Bulls-eye shoes but What's the deal WD?!!!!

I guess what I'm asking is.... Was the MAXX such a dud other than in Ohio that you had to discontinue it? I grew up throwing them and I miss them!!!

Yeah, I don't get it. I have never seen one pitcher use a BANDIT or a GLORY shoe in my state and the MAXX is way better then both, in design and turn balance. We had a few players that used the MAXX. I for one, have pitched the shoe for the last three years, and have yet to break a pair...but I know it will come eventually. When you are forced to change shoe brands it can wreck havoc with your game. I have seen it so much here lately in my state. Players scrambling to find drop-forged Imperials over the ductile iron versions, players trying to find six-shooters, players trying to find somthing to replace the Ted Allen originals when the break (many don't like the new ones.) A guy in the forum was looking for Bigfoots the other day, since they too have been discontinued. SIDEWINDER, MAGNET, SIX SHOOTER, BIGFOOT, MAXX, VIPER, STEINFELDT, PLUS, SIX HIXX, PONY?, STINGER? Are they gone too? Crazy.
