Inducted 2001
Promoter: Norm Gaseau was born February
7, 1913, and had a military career before retiring in 1969. Shortly thereafter he was introduced to
the sport and organized the Clearwater Horseshoe Club in 1972. The club was one of the charter clubs to
join the NHPA Sanctioned League Program.
Norm held the first Men and Women’s World Champion Invitational in
1981. This event drew attention and
other large open events were part of the annual schedule. Norm was elected as Secretary-Treasurer
of the Florida Association. That was
when he established a Game Related Sales dealership to benefit the
association. While serving as NHPA
Vice President (elected 1981) he arranged the service area to be expanded to 13
states. The Florida Association authorized
a Hall of Fame exhibit to be maintained at the Clearwater facility and under Norm’s
management was dedicated in February 1991.
