Player: Esther James was one of the best women pitchers during
the 1930’s. She placed 3rd
in the Women’s Division at the 1933 World Tournament. In 1935 she established a world record
in qualifying when she threw 86 ringers out of 100 shoes pitched. In so doing she pitched 14 consecutive
double ringers. This record stood
for 45 years. In that same year,
she won the Women’s World Championship, going undefeated and pitching
66.4% ringers.
