Player: Bob West of Scappoose, Oregon, started pitching in
1935 at the age of 13 in Minot, North Dakota and competed with the men. He advanced steadily winning the North
Dakota state title 3 times (1939, 1940 and 1954) before moving to Oregon in 1955
where he continued his winning ways by capturing the Oregon state crown 15 times.
He won 228 World tournament games
while losing just 78. His high
finish was in 1970, 3rd place winning 30 games, losing 5 and
pitching 81.6% ringers. He accomplished
the same feat in 1973 while averaging 82.2%. Bob passed away December 23, 2007, at age
85.
