Promoter/Organizer: Walter Ray Williams Sr. had many innovations in our organization that are now standard practices. He had years of innovative promotions in Northern California in both the 1960's and 1970's. He was elected NHPA Secretary-Treasurer in 1971. He brought the 1973 World Tournament to Eureka, California which had several firsts including: first indoor World Tournament, added classes to allow every player to enter, increased prize monies, and admission was charged to initiate scholarships to the Junior winners. Walter Ray was inducted into the Northern California HOF in 1994.
