Inducted 1968
Organizer: Harry “Pop” Woodfield served as NHPA President from 1941
to 1948 and was credited as largely responsible for holding our organization
together during those trying years.
He also edited and published a mimeographed booklet, “Horseshoe
News” when we had no other means of communication. The subscription for 12 issues of the
“Horseshoe News” was $1.00. He was a very successful promoter of the
game in the Washington D.C. area.
As NHPA President, he contacted President Harry Truman and helped
install courts at the White House.
He also arranged for several exhibitions featuring Jimmy Risk. Pop passed away December 6, 1950.
